In the interior of an oven microwaves, an electromagnetic wave of high frequency (around 2 450 MHz) is generated by a valve and radiated by a metallic antenna for the compartment where the foods are placed.
This electromagnetic wave has similar characteristics to the light, however it is not visible. It acts on the molecules of the water that are gifts in foods, provoking the increase of the agitation of molecules and, consequently, the increase of its temperature.
The molecules of the water, in turn, transfer part of its energy to particles of the elmento (the atoms or the molecules). After one determined time, the food will be cooked. The baking time varies in function of the power of the oven, the mass and the characteristics of the food.
Some people believe that the container is not warm, but this is not true, because through the conduction process, a parcel of thermal energy is transferred to the canister.
Being thus, it can be affirmed that a product, exactly not-metallic, but without liquid (water molecules) is not heated when placed in an oven microwaves.
